چکیده
Parameterized quantum circuits (PQCs) are a central component of many variational algorithms, yet there is lack understanding how their parameterization impacts algorithm performance. We initiate this discussion by using principal bundles to geometrically characterize two-qubit PQCs. On the base manifold, we use Mannoury-Fubini-Study metric find simple equation relating Ricci scalar (geometry) and concurrence (entanglement). By calculating during eigensolver (VQE) optimization process, offers us new perspective why Quantum Natural Gradient outperforms standard gradient descent. argue that key Gradient's superior performance its ability regions high negative curvature early in process. These appear be important accelerating

Optimal Design of Two-Qubit Quantum Circuits
Current quantum computing hardware is unable to sustain quantum coherent operations for more than a handful of gate operations. Consequently, if near-term experimental milestones, such as synthesizing arbitrary entangled states, or performing fault-tolerant operations, are to be met, it will be necessary to minimize the number of elementary quantum gates used. In order to demonstrate non-trivia...
متن کاملQuantum circuits for incompletely specified two-qubit operators
While the question “how many CNOT gates are needed to simulate an arbitrary twoqubit operator” has been conclusively answered – three are necessary and sufficient – previous work on this topic assumes that one wants to simulate a given unitary operator up to global phase. However, in many practical cases additional degrees of freedom are allowed. For example, if the computation is to be followe...
متن کاملOptimal two-qubit quantum circuits using exchange interactions
We give the optimal decomposition of a universal two-qubit circuit using Heisenberg exchange interactions and single qubit rotations. Tuning the strength and duration of the Heisenberg exchange allows one to implement SWAP gates. Our optimal circuit is constructed from only three SWAP gates and six single qubit gates. We show that three SWAP gates are not only sufficient, but necessary. Since s...
متن کاملMinimal Universal Two-Qubit CNOT-based Circuits
We give quantum circuits that simulate an arbitrary two-qubit unitary operator up to global phase. For several quantum gate libraries we prove that gate counts are optimal in worst and average cases. Our lower and upper bounds compare favorably to previously published results. Temporary storage is not used because it tends to be expensive in physical implementations. For each gate library, best...
متن کاملEfficient Quantum Circuits For Non-Qubit Quantum Error-Correcting Codes
We present two methods for the construction of quantum circuits for quantum errorcorrecting codes (QECC). The underlying quantum systems are tensor products of subsystems (qudits) of equal dimension which is a prime power. For a QECC encoding k qudits into n qudits, the resulting quantum circuit has O(n(n− k)) gates. The running time of the classical algorithm to compute the quantum circuit is ...
